Measuring Your Spiritual Growth
Have you ever wondered, “Am I any different than I was a year ago? Has anything about me changed for the better? Am I still making the same mistakes?”
One thing I’ve learned is that spiritual growth is not always consistent, nor is it linear. Sometimes we find ourselves in the same patterns of thought and behavior that we’ve always had. We learned a lesson years ago, we just forgot and had to relearn it!
What if you were gracious to yourself, and asked this question, “By the grace of God, can I see a small improvement in my life?”
Maybe it’s simply NOT doing things you used to do...
Not saying that mean thing that comes into your mind.
Not watching that questionable show on Netflix.
Not passing on that juicy piece of gossip.
Or maybe you see yourself doing some small things that you haven’t done in a while in your walk with God...
Giving something away to help someone else.
Attending a Bible class or study.
Being more encouraging to others.
If you are feeling stuck, or would like some tips in growing as a follower of Jesus, I would encourage you to reach out to a shepherd, a minister, or find a mature Christian to be your mentor and accountability partner.
And don’t be too hard on yourself...following Jesus happens one step at a time!
Blessings,
Franklin
