Elder Selection Process — Southwest

Elder Selection Process

Southwest is beginning the process to select new elders to be added to the existing five, with installation targeted for January 2027.

Why now

It is timely — the last addition to the eldership was approximately four years ago.

Why it matters

It allows for continuity as existing elders age and/or if any current elder were to resign for any reason.

An Elder Selection Process Coordination Team is forming

If an elder asks you to participate, please prayerfully consider it.

Three sermons, a dedicated night of prayer, and a nomination process leading to installation in January 2027.

A way to exit the eldership

A means for exiting the eldership is also being developed — to dispel the perception that being an elder is a lifetime commitment.

Deacons to follow

The addition of deacons will follow the elder selection process, seeking to alleviate the administrative burden on elders so they have more time for shepherding.

"Please be in prayer that God, through His Spirit, brings forth men willing and able to serve as elders and deacons."
