Two Great Outreach Ministries

Did you know that Southwest is an active participant in the ministry of World Bible School? In the past year, volunteers from Southwest “adopted” 200 students who enrolled in World Bible School’s online courses, mostly from overseas. These Study Helpers were able to pray for their students, write them words of encouragement, and offer feedback on the answers they gave in their studies. One of the things I personally love about World Bible School is that it’s a great way to connect people who love God and want to make disciples with people who are already seeking God and want to study the Bible. And since it’s all online, it’s an easy way for disciples of Jesus to get involved in leading people to Christ, even if your free time is limited.

Right now, there’s a great need for more people to volunteer. Over 1,800 students have signed up to study the Bible online, but have not yet been adopted by a Study Helper. I think God is calling some of us at Southwest to step up and start meeting that need.

I’d like you to consider if this is something you’d be willing to get involved with. You don’t need to be an expert theologian or a Bible scholar to help someone in World Bible School; you just need to love God and have a sincere desire to help people discover the truth of his Word.

If this is something you’re interested in, contact Bryan for instructions on how to sign up, or get the process started today at https://worldbibleschool.org/study-helper-application. Just make sure to use our church’s information when you sign up so you can be assigned to our team (Southwest Church of Christ, 2400 S. 124th St, Omaha, NE 68144. Website: www.swestcc.org).

Another great outreach opportunity we have is Friendspeak, a ministry that offers free one-on-one English conversation practice using the Bible. Our Friendspeak volunteers would love your help getting the word out about this opportunity. If you know of anyone who would benefit from this (or studying the Bible at World Bible School), please have them call 531-346-5393 or email us at friendspeak.swcc@gmail.com.

We also have a unique link that people can use to sign up to study the Bible through World Bible School: swestcc.worldbibleschool.org. If you meet people in the Omaha area who want to study the Bible online, send them that link and they’ll be paired with our volunteers at Southwest.

Let’s be praying for these two outreach ministries — Friendspeak and World Bible School!

Blessings,

Bryan Fojtasek
