Shaped By Community

I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of Christian community lately, so here are some of the thoughts that have been going through my mind:

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. From the very beginning, Jesus called people not just to believe, but to belong. He gathered disciples, shared meals, prayed together, worshiped together, and sent them out together. Christian community isn’t an optional add-on to faith—it’s essential to how we grow and live as followers of Christ.

In community, we are encouraged when faith feels hard and celebrated when God is at work in our lives. Scripture reminds us that we are one body with many parts (1 Corinthians 12), with each person uniquely gifted and deeply needed. When we walk together, we learn to love, forgive, serve, and bear one another’s burdens in ways we simply can’t do alone.

Christian community also helps shape us into who God is calling us to be. Through shared worship, honest conversations, prayer, and accountability, we are challenged to grow deeper in our faith and live out the love of Jesus in real, everyday ways. Community keeps us grounded in truth and reminds us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves—God’s ongoing work in the world.

As followers of Jesus, let us continue to invest in relationships that point us toward Christ. When we gather, serve, pray, and grow together, we reflect the heart of Jesus to one another and to the world.

I hope you find this encouraging.
