Living Free Under Grace

Nebraska Youth Camp is in full swing this summer!

We have kids of all ages spending one or two weeks at camp, and from all reports, they’re having an incredible time! In just a few weeks, I’ll get the opportunity to join them for Senior Session 2, and I can’t wait!

I’ll be serving as a Bible class teacher, and our theme for the week is “Dominion of Grace,” based on Romans 6:14, which says: “Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of Gods grace.”Romans 6:14 (NLT)

As I’ve been preparing for my classes, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on this verse and what Paul is telling us about grace—and what it means for our lives. This verse is a declaration of freedom. Before Christ, sin was in control. It dictated our choices, dominated our thinking, and held us in chains. But Romans 6:14 proclaims something life-changing: sin is no longer your master.

Why? Because we no longer live under the weight of the law—the constant pressure to earn our place with God. Instead, we live under something far more powerful: the freedom of God’s grace.

Grace doesn’t just forgive us—it frees us. It empowers us to live differently, to walk away from what once held us down, and to pursue the life God created us for. Grace doesn’t excuse sin—it gives us the strength to overcome it. Living under grace means we don’t fight our battles alone. We live with the confidence that God is for us, helping us—even when we stumble. Grace reminds us that our identity isn’t found in our failures, but in Christ’s victory.

May this be a blessing for you this week! - Jamey
