Joyful Worship
In Luke 1:46–55, Mary responds to the incredible news that she will give birth to the Savior of the world with a song of praise. Known as the Magnificat, her words begin, "Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!” Mary's circumstances were uncertain, but her focus was on the faithfulness and goodness of God. As she worshiped, joy overflowed from her heart.
Joy is one of the natural responses to worship. When we take time to remember who God is, what He has done, and the promises He has made, our perspective begins to change. Worship shifts our attention from our problems to God's power, from our fears to His faithfulness, and from our worries to His love.
This week, may we follow Mary's example by choosing to worship God in every season of life. As we reflect on His goodness and grace, may our hearts be filled with the same joy that led Mary to sing, knowing that our Savior is faithful and worthy of our praise.
