Unfiltered Faith

Unfiltered Faith We just spent a great weekend out at camp for our Midwest Youth Retreat. Our theme is as Unfiltered Faith . While it was targeted towards teens, I thought it was something we all, even adults, need to be reminded of from time to time. Because here’s the thing:

We live in a culture that loves filters. With a few taps, we can make a picture brighter, hide blemishes, or even change how we look altogether. And sometimes, without even realizing it, we start doing the same thing in our faith—trying to appear more “put together” before God and others.

But Paul reminds us that those who belong to Christ no longer need to hide behind a veil. We don’t need filters with God. He invites us to come honestly, with all our struggles, doubts, and imperfections. Unfiltered faith is about showing up as we are— not pretending to be perfect, but trusting that God loves us enough to meet us there.

Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 3:18:

“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image .”

Here’s the beautiful truth: God doesn’t transform our “filtered” selves. He transforms our real selves. As we bring Him our unfiltered prayers, worship, and trust, the Spirit works in us. Day by day, we are being shaped into the image of Christ.

Think about your closest relationships. With a true friend, you don’t need to fake it. You can laugh, cry, and be fully yourself. God is inviting us into that kind of relationship—where faith is real, raw, and unfiltered. And when we live that way, others see God’s glory shining through us.

So let’s take those filters off and trust God to create an image of Himself, not worrying about putting out the image we think we need.
