God Is Good, All The Time
This Sunday we are starting a new message series on the life of Joseph called God is Good, All The Time. Joseph learned the hard way that even though life isn’t always easy, God is always good — and he has a good plan for our lives. Joseph was no stranger to unjust suffering. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit, and promptly thrown into prison where he was left to die. But despite all that, God was still good, and God was still with him, even in the darkest valley. Although Joseph had no way of knowing it at the time, God has a plan and a purpose for Joseph’s life, a plan to save millions of people from disaster. A catastrophic famine was only a few years away, and God was sending Joseph to the right place, at the right time, to be in a position to save people from it. Rejected by man, Joseph was exalted by God and placed in the perfect position "for such a time as this.”
One remarkable part of Joseph’s story was his willingness to forgive his brothers when they came to him in Egypt, even though he had every right to be angry with them. Now that many years had passed and Joseph was able to see the way God was at work throughout all the seasons of his life, Joseph was able to view his suffering from God’s point of view. Even though his brothers intended to harm him, Joseph knew God intended it for good — to put Joseph in a position to save many lives (Genesis 50:20). Joseph’s life is a powerful example of the truth we read about in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
We hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we kick off this series, and we encourage you to invite a friend to come as well!
Blessings,
