What is MOPS?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a program for mothers with children under school age (infant through kindergarten). Women in the same phase of life, with a shared desire to be the best mothers they can be!
MOPS provides encouragement, support, teaching and friendships. In these relationships, moms find answers for their everyday dilemmas and discover a safe place to explore deeper principles for family-building. MOPS makes a difference in the lives of women and their families.
What is MOPPETS?
MOPPETS is a program designed specifically for the preschoolers of the mothers who attend MOPS. The classes provide children a loving environment where they listen to Bible stories, sing and play with other children their same age.
MOPPETS workers are carefully chosen from among ladies at the Southwest Church of Christ. These volunteers are ladies who have the trust of the MOPS steering committee and current MOPS members.
What can you expect from MOPS?
On a typical MOPS morning, you can expect to meet other moms of preschoolers, enjoy a short devotional, listen to a speaker, discuss an interesting topic, participate in a craft project and share yummy snacks. During this time, your children are being cared for in the MOPPETS program. Our speakers address a wide range of topics from car-seat safety and estate planning to fashion and decorating.
Registration
Registration occurs at the first meeting of the year. However, you are welcome to join anytime during the year. We do not currently have a waiting list. You'll meet the steering team, MOPPETS teachers and fill out information forms for your children. Registration is $20.00 for the entire year. This fee covers your MOPS to MOM connection which includes a one-year subscription to "MOMSense" magazine, free books and a free video. Dues for each meeting are $3.00, which cover the cost of the craft for the meeting.
When does MOPS meet?
Our MOPS group meets on the 2nd Monday of every month from 9:15-11:30am, September through May. We also have play groups in the summer.
Southwest MOPS Mission
Our desire for the Southwest MOPS program is for every mother of a preschooler to have a time to be nurtured. We are committed to helping the mother of preschoolers as she ventures through this exciting and challenging time in her life.
We want to allow moms to have a much needed break from her daily routine to know that her children are well taken care of, and to give her an opportunity to develop new friendships and nurture existing ones.
